LEARN MORE ABOUT ME
Ashlee Day
National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor
Since childhood, I have loved listening to the stories of others. To me, a person’s narrative provides great insight into who they are and the strengths they already have. I believe that we all have the capacity for resilience, emotional growth, and healing. However, we sometimes need the insight of an unbiased and caring individual to help us see the strengths we possess.
I am passionate about working with individuals who experience anxiety and depression surrounding life changes or adjustment. Why you might ask? Simply put, I have walked my own path of self-discovery and growth. I understand the pressure of wanting to be “perfect,” the fear of uncertainty, the anxiety of “not good enough,” and the fear that someone might find out that you struggle too. Sometimes, we need someone who can walk with us while we journey through our search for authenticity and balance. That’s where I come in.
I absolutely love the work I do. There is something about watching someone have an “aha” moment or breaking through a difficult emotion or life phase that has been holding them back. It is far more fulfilling than I ever imagined possible. It’s why I do this, it’s why I will continue doing this, and it’s why I will show up for you, and support you during your journey.
EDUCATION AND CAREER BACKGROUND
So now that you know why I love what I do, here’s a 30 second summary of why I am qualified, too. I have been working with children, adolescents, and adult clients in all stages of transition since 2006. For the last 13 years, I have worked closely with teens and adults adjusting to life stages, relationships of all kinds, those wanting to improve their quality of life, and people seeking personal growth or development. I am passionate about helping individuals through what can be a vulnerable time one's life. I particularly enjoy working with young adults, especially regarding self-discovery and carving out a path for one’s self.
I have my BS in General Education and minors in Psychology, Sociology, and Substance Abuse Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma. I have an MA in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#4475) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (#811) in Oklahoma as well as a Board Certified National Counselor (NBCC), and an Approved LPC Supervisor.
I have worked as the Owner and Executive Director of A New Day Counseling, Inc. since 2011. Most of my time has been as an Administrator, Supervisor, Counselor, Consultant, and Coach. I am happy to be doing the work I love in the middle of the city at our brand new location North of Memorial Road and East of Hefner Parkway. We moved here in 2017 after spending 6 years in the Quail Creek area. My office reflects the creativity, authenticity, and empathy with which I approach my life and career. We would love to welcome you!
